"It was great to get back with the fishing pals team to relax and enjoy the serenity of the camp and nature around us. Lots of great upgrades in terms of the vehicles, solar, and boats. Thank you very much Andre for mountain of work you do to run the camp, and all the time you spent with us this year" |

It was great seeing the guys again after three years albeit with a bit more grey. It was good to see Ron was his usual energetic self looking to clear the trail over to Horseshoe Lake and cook up quite a few meals for us. Surprised to see Rick so energetic and raring to help out with the camp projects (cell extension antenna, adding solar panels, solar light replacement, boat table/storage unit retrofit, etc.). I guess that is their way to relax. My idea of relaxation was to sit back and enjoy the sun and refreshments and conversation and finally feel that things were back to normal. I did manage to help Fred out with the new boat table/storage unit assembly which is a challenge when simultaneously swatting hordes of mosquitos. Thanks to Fred's supervisory skills, we made short order of the assembly and minimized the blood loss. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks to Andre and Richard for hosting us and making it a memorable fishing trip. |

After two years of Covid lockdown restrictions, we finally had our long awaited fishing trip. It felt like an eternity, but it was well worth the wait to get back out on the lake again. The new Bluetti battery system seems to be doing a good job harnessing the sun's power, and the addition of a couple of solar panels should help things. The new cellphone booster eliminates the need to jam your cellphone directly on the antenna. Our day trip to Kasasway proves to be fruitful as well, not to mention being able to snag a monster bass. Pike wontons are a permanent fixture on our menu now. The rocket stove was an interesting new way to cook our pork. Only one day of rain, so the weather co-operated as well. Good food, good company and good fishing. Works for me. |

On arrival, as I walked onto the deck and saw the elevated view of the lake, a calming emotion came over me. The 5 day retreat on Sashihaw with the Fishingpals was missed. The trip itself offered the usual good food, conversation and fishing. The weather cooperated --- some days hot, others cool and one with rain. It was pretty much par for the course. It was great to have Andre with us for conversation, Pickerel fishing instructor and excursion manager. Going to Kasasway is always an event --- big bass possibilities! Thanks for being there. Up until this minute, I thought I did not leave anything behind. On your "bar" cabinet you will find a red toiletry bag. Nothing exciting inside. I will pick it up next year! Take care. |

Another great year. Felt good to be back after a few missed years and see the new toys the camp has acquired. It was great that Andre was able to spend the entire week with us and I appreciate that Richard made the trip up to see us for Sunday night. This year I appreciated the pontoon boat like no other, it is the most casual and relaxing way to fish. I hope to be back next year but we will see what work has in store for me in 2023. |
