I liked this trip because we caught a big rainbow trout and we watched the NHL playoffs at night. I did not catch too many different fish and the weather at the start wasn't too good. My favourite part of the trip was driving around in the trackers. This year I got pranked by my older cousin Andrew. If you are curious watch the DVD. |

This year's trip was fun like all others. Most things went as expected --- some surprises. This year we did something new --- watched Stanley Cup final games 5 and 6 via satellite TV, which we setup upon our arrival. Vancouver won game 5 at home. Boston won game 6 on the Monday. The dish remains stylishly mounted above the Sashihaw map. The fish were elusive but we managed to catch more than enough Walleye and a big Rainbow Trout (Elbow lake) for Ben's fish dinner. I caught the biggest Walleye and the only other game fish. I can only brag about those achievements because no one offered to pay. We (Ron and Eddy) also cleaned a couple of big pike for Cajun fish fingers. They were prepared to perfection by master deep fryer Ron. Crispy on the outside, tender in the center. Looking forward to more next year. Investigating the "outtrip" was fun. On Saturday night in the rain we took the two trackers to investigate the road access to the targetted lake. It turned out to be blocked (maybe next year) so we then verified access to a different lake. The ride back to camp traversed some questionable roads with many bumps and tallish birch saplings, which folded under the vehicles and popped back up just like the bushes concealing the "bat cave". Fishing on Kenicki was not great. Andre landed a couple of Walleye. The rest of only Pike. Special thanks to chief mechanic Eddy for fixing the controls on the pontoon boat. Not the easiest craft to drive when neutral and reverse are not an option, though Eddy seemed to manage it well enough. Later he discovered and repaired the frayed control cable. Thanks again to Andre for use of the camp and letting it all happen. Hope to see you all next year. |

This year's trip was a welcome, if not necessary, getaway from the hectic pace of the work world. My view of our annual fishing trip is considered a mandatory event as I find that I gain much needed relief from the stresses of work. Our routine is enjoyable, and the camaraderie of our company make it easy to see why we have such longevity with this group. Catching more fish would be nice, but I have long since learned that it is a distant second priority for this trip. Spending hours in the boat contemplating my online funeral service proved to be interesting. I think we have a winner. At least, Hula Boy likes the idea. Off-roading at night, satellite television, and Eric's fish story were this year's hi-lites for me. I didn't do a very good job of recording all our activities, but there should be enough pictures and video for our collection. Even with a couple of cooler days, I managed to pace myself for the number of beers needed for the trip. Anticipating next year's trip already… Many thanks to Andre and Eddie for letting us use the camp. Pretty soon, the camp will become the 'campus'.... |

For a 2nd year in a row, we have enjoyed eating a freshly caught speckled trout. We also noticed the new (hopefully bear proof) window installed in the living room. Also enjoyed mounting and getting the satellite Expressvu dish and receiver working to watch the stanley cup final. Another great trip with Andre and Eddie and his new companion. Lastly It was great to receive the expert pike cleaning refresher course. |
