This year's trip was fun and relaxing as usual. It had a laid back feel right from the start. Chillin' and sleeping at Ron's cottage on Thursday night. Big breakfast and hitting the road. The fishing and weather was a little off for the first couple of days. Then the weather improved and the fishing picked up remarkably. Pickerel on Sashihaw for the fish and coleslaw wraps. Pike for the wontons and the newly introduced wonton soup. We ate well. More fish and unfortunately less poutine. We did not land a rainbow at Elbow. The shad flies were only starting to appear. Bugs were bad launching the tin can boat, but eventually they retreated back to the woods. We had a relaxing couple of hours in the sun. Kasasway was excellent as usual. Got to work on my single man canoe paddling technique while Pete enjoyed his vacation. We each caught a large pike (approx. 6 pounds) and Pete also chained 3 large bass. Many lesser bass were released.

Many thanks to our host Andre and our guide Eddy, who displayed a unique ability to find fish for Andrew on two successive casts on our final night booze cruise. Cast there, let bait sink, set the hook. Done.

This year's trip was smooth sailing. We've done the trip enough times so that we can easily accomplish everything without too much pre-planning. We can use lists from last year, and be prepared to go on a moment's notice. With Ben and David unable to go this year, the gang was only five strong. Getting to the camp this year was no problem. The weather was nice and we spotted a moose on the way in. Eddy was there to greet us, and we quickly settled in. Andre showed up on Sunday, but didn't stay overnight. Thanks for helping me find the dead mouse. It was starting to get pretty raunchy in the sauna house.

The addition of the widescreen TV at the camp made watching the hockey games much more like being at home. Ron brought up his satellite receiver which enabled us to watch the remainder of the Stanley Cup finals. Chicago showed that their experience was much more valuable than having the high-powered offense that Tampa Bay possessed.

Once we had the hockey out of the way, we were able to focus on fishing again. Our excursion to Kasasway Lake was very successful once again. That lake has proven to be reliable to produce bass, and we were able to catch enough for our fish dinner. Ron did a great job with his Broiled Parmesan Lemon Bass recipe. Ben will need to try it one day.

The wonton cooking was simplified with a small wonton folding device. We may need to get a few more for next year. Ron's Wonton Soup was very tasty so, it looks like we may need to add it to our list of regular items. However, one package of wonton wrappers doesn't make as much as you think, so we will need to get 3 or 4 packages for next year.

As usual, the trip was an overall success. We caught a few walleye on Sashihaw, had pike wontons, and played around with the bass in Kasasway. Everything went as expected except for Ron getting a flat tire on the way out. We were able to get the spare tire on, and make it to Chelmsford for repairs. Thanks to Eddy for all his assistance on this year's adventure... and thanks to Andre for the use of the camp once again. Next year boys!

Another great year of fishing, food, and camaraderie. The additions of the two propane fridges and more solar panels certainly made the camp more peaceful. The new roof over the truck containers is amazing and will certainly be able to protect a lot of equipment from the elements. The train derailments near Gogama however unfortunate, did provide a spinoff benefit in that we now have a better access road to our favourite bass lake.

Thanks Eddie, and Andre for your hospitality and use of the camp.
