The Moosey Chronicles

Andrew

It was nice to be back on the Fishing Trip after a one year hiatus. The addition to the cottage looked very nice as did the new sauna. My highlights included the first two nights of fishing on Sashihaw with Richard & Andre where we caught HOG Walleyes. The rest of the week fishing by ourselves wasn't as successful.... funny how that works.
As I get older the time away from work and daily chores becomes appreciated. A week without cell phones or needing to drive anywhere hits the spot!

It was great to get everyone together and get back to fishing. The time outdoors and away from regular day activities was very much appreciated. On the first day to show up and hear that we were heading to Kasasway was a very fun surprise. Fishing morning and evenings were a great balance with all the activities around camp in the afternoon. Could not have asked for better weather and the additional improvements to camp continue to impress.

I had a really good time this year. To steal a comment from Andre I was "relaxed" most days in most circumstances. The travel there and back went smoothly. The cabin extension was amazing. More sleeping spots and extra space for storage. The sauna and plunge pool was a great experience on the last day. Enjoyed having coffee with Andre in the mornings and Palmoros in the afternoon. (Tequila + Fresca + Lime). Fishing and weather was great. Next time when selecting the week we will check the lunar calendar to get the full moon! The trip to Kasasway is always a Bonus!

This year's trip revealed the inaugural build of the camp extension. Three extra bedrooms became available as well as a new sauna, with hot water! Our day trip to Kasasway was successful where we bagged a pretty good number of bass. Unfortunately, my fishing rod bounced out of the boat en route to the lake. Oh well, that rod was with me since high school, so I guess I'm due for a new rod. The pike wontons, deep fried walleye, and steamed fish dinner were really good reminders of why we like coming on this trip every year. Since it was an Olympic year, the triathletes competed in horseshoes, axe throwing and nail hammering competitions. No Euchre was played, but a new card game (Flune) was introduced this year.

Not going last year made it feel like I hadn’t gone on the trip in years. Had to look back on old email threads to confirm I actually went in 2022 ;o). Always a great time and the extra activities was definitely a bonus. Have to work on my axe throwing skills to be sure but I think I got a handle on the hammering though. Also glad to help out with some of the wood prep for Andre who was of course an awesome host. Already looking forward to next year.

I once again really enjoyed the trip.
What made it special this year was the variety of extra activities we did. Specifically the axe throwing, & horse shoe competitions. I was certainly relieved that some of my wild throws did not hit anyone or the vehicles parked nearby! Heading out with Andre and his heavy machinery to gather, cut and split logs, was another worthwhile experience.
As Eric already mentioned, the cabin and sauna additions are excellent.
Ben, thanks again for returning this year and preparing your signature fish dinner on the last night!
