This year's trip was one of the best. There was a lot of success catching pickerel and eating fish with our northern friends. Andre and family were there at the start to share stories, cook fish, and his daughter Danielle schooled us on how to catch large fish in minimal time. Eddy was with us for the week leading us on a successful day out on Kasasway --- great lake with lots of bass, pickerel and large Pike. The weather throughout the week was changing constantly and the moon was full --- great for fishing and no need to apply sun screen. Went searching for fish in a couple of small lakes with canoes. The first lake was a dud. Access was made available via a fresh clear cut. Venturing to Shookemi had more promise. It was an interesting paddle through some excellent scenery. Next time I will leave after breakfast and bring a lunch with some tasty beverages. Looking forward to next year!

This year's trip will be remembered as the one where we landed the record walleye --- at least a record for the FishingPals. It tipped about 7.5 pounds as measured on a tackle box scale. Andrew was able to accomplish the task with his new gear, and it further pushed up our approval rating for Kasasway Lake. Any chance of building a camp out there? Another milestone was that Eric survived the trip without any injury. That honour was bestowed upon Peter this year, who somehow tore up his six-pack. Or was that the amount of beer that he brought?

A major addition to the camp this year was the solar powered energy source. Not only does this improve the efficiency of electricity usage, it probably is a lifesaver for Ben's well-being. The early trials for the battery system looks promising, and the recent upgrades with additional batteries may prove to be even more impressive. However, you might need to look at the expansion of the campus to understand why other solutions are needed. The addition of a major storage facility/garage and future building construction may start putting a strain on the ol' generator.

Bears were spotted on two occassions. We had a couple of rainy days. Pike wontons were a hit --- especially in the Pike Wonton soup. Eric and Fred remain the Euchre champs. We met Toby the Dog.

Until next year...

Another great trip. The newly connected Solar power made it much more peaceful once we got used to the various connection requirements. The replacement screened-in porch, is great. Having Bell cell coverage is now a good thing, enabling us to order in a tire plug kit. Great fishing as per usual, and thanks to Eddy's refresher demo, my pike and walleye cleaning skills have improved. Visiting and fishing in 3 other lakes this year was good, especially at Kasasway where helping to land Andrew's 7 and 1/2 pound Walley, was great on top of pulling in lots of bass there.
